Mariners aquire: Jon Jay, Jake Westbrook, Allen Craig from the cardinals for Justin Smoak,Aaron Laffery,Denny Bautista. Jay is going to fill one the left field position and is going to be the starter at left. Allen Craig will be the first basemen now that Smoak is gone. jake westbrook will be a starter in the rotation now. The mariners also sign free agent Jose Guillen to a 1 yr deal he will be one of the DHs.

Mariners come out swing to score 12 runs on 18 hits agianst the indians at Safco field. chone Figgins is swinging the hottest bat on the team right now batting .536 and going 3 for 4 last night with a stolen base. But Clayton Richard pitched 7.1 good inning till he sprained his acl his expected to be out 16 days and the mariners placed him on the 15 day DL.

Mariners make another trade in the first month

Mariners aquire: Clayton Richard, Jason Bartlett,and Chad Qualls from the Padres for Jason Vargas, Erik Berdard, and Brendan Ryan

Clayton Richard is an addition to the mariners piching rotation will be right behind Felix Hernandez and Jason Bartlett will now be the starting shortstop for mariners and Chad Qualls will maybe be the closer for the mariners or the setup man.

Mariners also sign Carlos Silva to a 1 year contract to fill out the rotation after trading to starters away

Mariners aquire:Shin-Shoo Choo form the Indians for Franklin Gutierrez,Adam Kennedy, and Luis Rodriguez this is the first of many trades for the mariners they are going to try to make their team better by trading guys for prospects and some all stars and starting pitchers and relief pitchers are the main positions the mariners are looking to fill up with prospects and all stars and vetrens.

Mariners were in 4th place in the west last year with a record of 61-101 with a win% of .337. With ichiro and King felix coming back mariners are going to try to have a better year this year and with the additions of Miguel Olivo, Jack cust, Brendan Ryan, Adam Kennedy, and Chris Ray the mariners might make some trades during the season to make the team better and make a run for the playoffs
